Working together: What is Psychoanalysis?
Psychoanalysis is a collaborative relationship between analyst and patient that aims to uncover historical roots of what went wrong and how it is affecting the present. Analyst and patient meet four times weekly to delve into understanding current and past unconscious conflicts and desires. Dream analysis and the analytic relationship are valuable avenues to learning about unconscious sensitivities, injuries and character development. It is through this process of bringing unconscious experience into conscious activity that allows a patient to heal and create meaning in their life.
